Please follow these simple tips to improve your gas mileage:
from www.fueleconomy.gov
Avoid Aggressive Driving
Speeding, rapid acceleration and braking wastes gas. It can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and by 5 percent around town. You can assume that each 5 mph you
drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.24 per gallon for gas. By driving sensibility you can save the equivalent of $0.18 – $1.16/gallon.
Keep Vehicle Well Maintained
By keeping your vehicle maintained such as regular oil chages with manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil and keeping tires properly inflated can imrove your mileage by as much as 10%.
This is the same as saving over $0.35/gallon.
Drive a More Efficient Vehicle
The difference between a car that gets 20 MPG and one that gets 30 MPG amounts to over $900 per year (assuming 15,000 miles of driving annually and a fuel cost of
$3.70/gal). Over five years that's over $4,500 in extra fuel cost!
Selecting which vehicle to purchase is the most important fuel economy decision you'll make.
Green Energy
Installing a solar electricity system at a residential and commercial building will offset electricity that otherwise has to be purchased from an utility company. NYSERDA will help pay for $1.75 per watt ($1,750 per KW) of the solar system.
